Colour and texture are the elements that motivate me to paint. Although I started as a water colourist I now work mostly in mixed media. I particularly like to rework paintings to build up texture and use multiple layers of colour always letting some of the original painting show through. I prefer this method to working with a blank canvas as I find the history you get with these reworked paintings much more satisfying. When I am attracted to a subject I usually do several pieces in that theme such as my Goddess Series. This particular series allows me to combine my love of figure drawing with various mixed media techniques resulting in each piece being an exciting and unique interpretation of the female form. I work mostly in abstract but occasionally get the urge to paint more realistically if the subject captures my interest. What I particularly love about being an artist is the joy of experimentation.
